Rodrigo Y Gabriela announced for Fuji Rock!

If you missed Rodrigo Y Gabriela's sold out show in Shibuya last night, don't despair! Mid way through the show they announced that they would be playing all three days of Fuji Rock! There will be no excuse for missing one of the most interesting live acts currently doing the rounds, and I would expect that they will do a variety of different times over the festival's course. Think: Late night, early afternoon... I wouldn't even be surprised if we found them in a headline spot on one of the smaller stages!

fujirock2009

coming soon!

Rookie A Go-Go

The Rookie A Go-Go stage located up there near the Palace of Wonder will once again be presenting unsigned bands and wannabe rock stars in all their glorious callowness. Do you have what it takes to make a total fool of yourself in front of dozens of drunken, hard-bitten punters? Well, why not give it a try anyway?

The stage is supported by RAGTAG and Strummerville, and entries are not limited to guitar quartets. Hip-hop duos and techno units are welcome but string quartets are discouraged. There are no limitations with regard to nationality, age, gender or hairstyle.

Artists who would like to auditon will be asked to submit a CD-R of 3 original songs along with a profile and two photographs that include all the members. These items will not be returned. The deadline is April 18. They should be sent to:

Hot Stuff Promotion
Rookie a Go-Go Audition Office
5-26-21 Meguro, Royal Palace Kami-Meguro 2F
Meguro-ku, Tokyo 153-0051

Artists who pass the audition will have their profiles and photos uploaded onto the Fuji Rock Festival site and their songs streamed over the internet. Artists will not receive payment for their performances at the festival. Winners will be announced on the Fuji Rock website on May 25. All performers who pass the audition will receive 3-day passes to the festival, but they are responsible for their own transportation to the festival site. Lodgings will be arranged with the artists after the acts are decided.
