Best. Fuji. Moments. Ever.

So what's your favorite Fuji moment ever? Forget about who played the best sets, and forget about that time in the woods with that chick/chap you met in Gypsy Avalon... I'm talking about the unique little memories that this festival throws at you.

Mine is from liver-impaired legend Shane McGowan and The Pogues:

It was probably 2005 - and the sozzled poet staggered onto the stage and cemented his reputation by sloshing melodiously along in a right old state to a couple of his songs before stumbling off for a sit down. In between songs he slurred what sounded like random vowels and almost-consonants into the mic. The Japanese girl next to me turned and said, "where is he from? I can't understand his accent."

Great tunes. Great lyrics. Great comedy.

yeah, i was there. or at least partly there cuz i got so excited during the lead up to the show that i slammed 4 beers and spent half the show standing in line for the toilets.

shortly after Macgowan took the stage he swatted a mosquito and said "we've committed insect murder"

another thing i remember is he started the show with a paper cup, made a few visits to the back stage bar, and ended with a wine bottle in his hand.

god love him, the last time i saw the pogues was with joe strummer singing lead vocals as shane was too sick to perform.

i'm glad i was able to see both of these legends

some of my favorite memories happen before the fest begins – that Thursday night before the Friday kickoff. All the hardcore Fujirockers have already arrived and sussed out the best camping spots. Lots of people wear yukatas and there is a buzz in the air. Then a few bands play an extra show that night and everyone nearly explodes with excitement cause it has officially begun.

This year'll be the first Fuji Thursday night for me - hope it's as good as you've cracked it up to be

Iggy Pop inviting some 150 people onstage last year, then playing I Wanna Be Your Dog twice before falling - HARD - off of the stage and into the barricade area. i didn't think he was gonna get up.

Also, two years ago, Anthony Keidis of RHCP telling the crowd that he hooked up with Hello Kitty and she's pregnant...

fuji 04. Courtney Love comes out 40 minutes late for her saturday set on the green stage. First 3 or 4 songs all I could hear was random drunken slurred screaming from her mic (also may have been drug induced). I laughed....I left to go see something else.
That or the thunderstorm during the Fatboy Slim set on the saturday night at Fuji 05. Scary and trippy light show at the same time.

I wanted to thank you for this excellent read!! I definitely loved every little bit of it. I have you bookmarked your site to check out the latest stuff you post.
